Introduction
An introduction of myself first will be in order to sketch a picture of my walk with God in regard with our study here. I am a South African living in the beautiful city of Pretoria. I grew up in a little town called Brakpan, about 64km (+- 40mi) from Pretoria. The Lord captured my heart back in 1976 as an 8th grader. I was then in a Baptist church, however, I cannot tell you today if they were free-will Baptists or particular Baptists. However, for the next four years I did not grow much in the Lord due to preaching and teaching that weren't that good. Then in 1980, at the same church, a visiting Baptist preacher, a young guy, preached a sermon that really jolted me into understanding what I had missed up to that point. Later in 1980 I visited a Full Gospel Church of God in a neighbouring town and I was introduced to the baptism in the Holy Spirit. I was filled with the Holy Spirit and I went from strength to strength.

There are many ideas concerning the end-times, and many Christians are so set in their beliefes concerning the end-times, that it has become their test for orthodoxy. However, there are many godly men out there that teach different to one another, yet they accept each other as brothers in Christ.
Hopefully this teaching will give you cause to think about what you believe concernng the end-times, however, I do hope that it will not be something that will cause division between true Christian!
Yet, the question must still be asked: What comes first, the rapture or apostasy?

1. The Person of Christ
This subject can be found in the study called God and Jesus Christ in Orthodoxy.
2. The Atonement of Christ
This subject can be found in the study called The Atonement.
3. The Resurrection of Christ
The New Testament is full of evidence for the resurrection of Jesus (Mt 28:1-20; Mk 16:1-8; Lk 24:1-53; Jn 20:1-21:25).

I have read Francis A. Schaeffer's "The three essential books in one volume: Francis A. Schaeffer Trilogy: The God Who is There, Escape From Reason, He is There and He is Not Silent," some time ago, and one thing that he stresses in his books really is striking a chord with me. He speaks of the "upper story" which includes the concept of God, spirituality, man's soul, heavenly influences, and the "lower story" which includes the concepts of the created, earthly things, man's body. He speaks of the Biblical view of these things that the Bible sees a unity between the "upper" and "lower" stories, and that Christ is Lord of both. Before the 13th century the "upper story" was seen as all important with almost a total exclusion of the "lower." This was seen in art and science.

1. Introduction
[26] Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. [27] God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. [28] God blessed them; and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth. [29] Then God said, Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; [30] and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food; and it was so. [31] God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. (Gen 1:26-31)
Why was man created? This is one of the great theological questions, and people have battled with this question for thousands of years. Those who believe in evolution can never answer this question. However, since we believe that God created us, we can be sure there was a reason for our creation.
